Simchat Torah: A Guide to the Seven Hakafot

A Hebrew–English booklet to bring understanding, prayer, and joy into every circle.

Sometimes your feet are dancing while your heart is asking for healing. There is room for both in the hakafot. I prepared this guide to help you enter each round with a personal intention and honor the gift of the Torah with your whole being.

Before each hakafah, read a short meditation and personal prayer, then sing. After the round, turn to the pesukim and the Chida’s tefillah. The opening L’shem Yichud appears once, before all seven hakafot.

What is inside the hakafot guide?

  • The traditional L’shem Yichud and the prayers for all seven hakafot, with Hebrew and matching English side by side on every page.
  • A meditation and personal request before each round, followed by the pesukim and the Chida’s tefillah after it.
  • Familiar Sephardi piyutim and chassidic songs, with their words at the back and a front song index by Hebrew title and page number.
  • A compact print layout: 60 A5 pages, or 15 folded A4 sheets in booklet mode.

The separate collection has 15 personal tefillot for Sukkot, Hoshana Rabbah, and Simchat Torah. Choose the prayer that speaks to your moment.

Please print before the chag. Use the booklet alongside your congregation’s machzor and minhag.

May we pray from our hearts, rejoice together, and bring the joy of Simchat Torah into our homes and our year.
